Our Process: From Hardwood to Finished Project

Our Process: From Hardwood to Finished Project

Start with the material. Decide where it needs to end. Build the shortest smart path between the two.

A one-of-a-kind table and a repeat commercial run should not be forced through the same workflow. We organize each job around material, quantity, specification and intended use.

1. Define the Outcome

Dimensions, quantity, species or appearance, application, project location and schedule. Drawings, samples, photos and existing profiles help us understand the target.

2. Choose the Material

Use our domestic, live-edge or Brazilian hardwood, or bring suitable customer-owned lumber. Exceptional material may be pulled aside for The Wood Vault rather than cut into ordinary stock.

3. Dry & Prepare

When required, lumber moves through commercial kiln drying and preparation. Surfacing, straightening, thicknessing and sanding establish usable stock for the next operation.

4. Machine for Repeatability

Production work can include four-sided moulding, S4S, tongue-and-groove, decking, siding/cladding, flooring, trim, wide-belt sanding and repeatable custom profiles.

5. Fabricate When the Job Demands It

Furniture and architectural projects move into project-specific fabrication, joinery, shaping and assembly. Specialty metal components can be coordinated separately where required.

6. Finish

Projects are prepared and finished around species, intended use and desired appearance. Professional spray finishing is available where appropriate.

7. Check the Work

Finished custom work is checked against the agreed project requirements. Production runs are evaluated for consistency across the batch.

8. Move It Out

Customer pickup, freight and third-party white-glove delivery can be coordinated according to project size and destination. Installation is separate unless specifically included in the written scope.

One Stage or the Whole Path

Commercial customers can hire us for one operation—such as drying or moulding—or coordinate several stages from inbound lumber through processing and outbound reload.
