Frequently Asked Questions

What does 1 of A Kind Lumber Co. do?

We supply hardwood lumber and live-edge project stock and provide custom fabrication and production services including commercial kiln drying, four-sided moulding, wide-belt sanding and surfacing, finishing, lumber handling and coordinated log milling.

Do you still build custom furniture?

Yes. Custom furniture remains an important part of the business, including dining and conference tables, bar tops, countertops, benches, mantels, shelving, hospitality pieces and architectural woodwork. Custom work is quoted by project rather than through a large matrix of generic online variants.

Can I buy lumber without having you build the project?

Yes. Hardwood can be purchased as material when available. We also reserve exceptional long, wide, thick or figured stock for projects where the material may create greater value.

Can you work with customer-supplied lumber?

Yes, subject to inspection and suitability for the requested process.

What production services do you offer?

Services include four-sided moulding and production millwork, commercial kiln drying, 52-inch wide-belt sanding and surfacing, professional finishing, lumber handling/storage/reload, coordinated log milling and custom woodworking.

Can you handle repeat or commercial quantities?

Yes. We welcome production-oriented work such as T&G and decking runs, moulded hardwood, repeat tabletops, hospitality components and other repeatable hardwood parts.

Do you work with contractors, designers and architects?

Yes. Contractors, builders, interior designers, architects, restaurants, hotels and commercial project teams can request material-only, machining-only or finished-project quotes.

What Brazilian hardwoods do you carry?

Our expanding Brazilian program includes Muiracatiara (Tigerwood), Jatobá (Brazilian Cherry), Maçaranduba and Itaúba. Incoming material is confirmed for final dimensions and availability after physical inspection.

How do custom project payments work?

Custom project work begins with a 50% deposit. The remaining 50% is due upon completion before the work leaves our facility. Custom sales are final.

Do you deliver or install?

Pickup and freight can be coordinated. Third-party white-glove delivery can be arranged where appropriate. Installation is handled separately.

Do you have a physical facility?

Yes. Our Green Cove Springs operation includes approximately 8,000 square feet of indoor production space and approximately 16,000 square feet of outdoor storage. A CSX rail spur is located on the property; direct rail service is evaluated and arranged case by case.

Can you receive and store commercial lumber?

Yes. We can evaluate receiving, unloading, staging, temporary storage, processing and reload requirements for suppliers, importers, contractors and commercial customers.

Where are you located?

We are based in Green Cove Springs in Northeast Florida and serve projects nationwide.

What should I send for a quote?

Send the project type, species if known, rough and finished dimensions, quantity or linear footage, profile or drawing, finish requirements, project location and target schedule. Photos or inspiration are useful for custom work.
